A 13-month-old girl sustained serious burn injuries on both legs after a boiling water accident at her family’s home in Hazelmere, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the incident occurred when the child’s mother placed a recently boiled kettle on a table. The toddler tugged on the extension cord, causing the kettle to topple and spill scalding water over her legs.
